Abstract: The current study aims to identify the level of trainee teachers' teaching performance from the teacher trainers' perspective. It also aims to reveal any possible differences between the teacher trainers' responses to the trainee teachers' general instructional competencies. The analysis of the responses took into account the variables of gender, specialty, teaching experience and academic qualifications. To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher designed a tool to measure the trainee teachers' level of teaching performance. The study was carried out using a sample population of 49 primary education teacher trainers in Mostaganem province. The data analysis and interpretation revealed that the teachers' performance was average in terms of their training, their assessment methods, the effectiveness of their remedial works, and below average in the area of lesson planning. It was also concluded that there were no differences between the teacher trainers' responses to and evaluation of the trainee teachers' general competencies
