Idioms are regarded as one of the most outstanding challenges facing English learners. Accordingly, more concern should be focused on improving students’ ability to understand and use these expressions. Hence, this paper aims at investigating EFL students’ motivation and attitudes towards learning and using idiomatic expressions in listening and speaking activities during listening comprehension and oral production sessions. For the purpose of this study, a questionnaire is conducted with a sample of 40 students of the 1 st year BA programme at the department of English, University Centre of Maghnia. The findings of the study revealed that the students have strong positive attitudes towards the use of idioms in listening and speaking activities and are aware of the importance of these expressions in achieving effective communication.en_US
