Abstract: This work aims to study the diversity and distribution of zooplanktonic organisms in the lake of Hassi Ben Abdallah (Ouargla, South-East of Algeria) in order to contribute to the understanding of the fundamental aspects of the functioning of the ecosystem such as trophic state and circulation of organic matter in the food web. A total of 16 taxa of Copepods, Cladocera, Rotifers and Ostracoda were identified and then counted. Among the zooplanktons copepods are the most abundant, followed by rotifers, cladocera, while ostracoda are less in number as compared to others. However, these data, although preliminary, lead to a study over a more or less long period combining physicochemical factors and the collection of zooplankton will further contribute to the understanding of the dynamics of this biological community of the lake.
