dc.description.abstract.In order to study, conserve, enhance and better understand the influence of abiotic factors where edaphic on the vegetation of the Sahara, the current work focuses on the study of the biochemical responses of a medicinal plant called Zygophyllum album L. (Zygophyllaceae) through the evaluation of their contents in primary metabolites (total soluble sugars, proline and total proteins) and the hydric and ionic status in the leaves, stems and roots of samples of this plant collected from three stations located in the Ouargla region. The obtained results showed that this species behave differently depending on the physicochemical characteristics of the biotope; the levels of primary metabolites, water and ions accumulated by plants vary considerably between the plants sampled at different stations, and in the same station, between the different organs (leaf, stem, and root). This different behavior is a form of adaptation of the plant to the conditions which surround it and which can modify certain medicinal traits of the plant.en_US
