Abstract: In this work, we achieved a numerical simulation of the performance and efficiency of a CdTe solar cell using the SCAPS-1D solar cell simulation program. Where we focused on studying the effect of all the illumination and thickness of the CdTe absorbent layer on the performance and efficiency of the solar celland the output of the solar cell such as short circuit current density (Jsc, open circuit voltage (Voc), fill factor (FF) and efficiency (η) and The quantitative yield of the cell.The numerical simulation results by the program showed that the CdTe cell behaves the same as the p-n junction, the results showed that the thickness of the absorbing layer has a significant effect on the media related to the output of the solar cell, where we recorded the best results at the thickness at 4m compared with the thickness of the cell The other cases, while the quantum yield of the solar cell at the same thickness was 89.85% at wavelength 660 nm.
