dc.description.abstractThe Algerian novel is of great importance in Arab fiction literature and was the most important link in the development of the modern Arab novelist art. Although the Algerian novel revealed its role in narrating the struggle against the occupation, its course has evolved and its contents have turned from local and national issues to global issues. Wassini Laaraj is an Algerian novelist who searches for global issues and oppressed peoples in order to convey their suffering to the recipient in an artistic style and an interesting narration. This research, according to the descriptive-analytical approach, seeks, in light of the concept of the image, to study the image of the Roma other in the novel “Gypsies also love” by the novelist Wassini al-Araj, to clarify the image of the Roma other in Algerian society and then reach an understanding of the Roma identity through the text of the novel.
