The study was conducted on a sample of 100 students, 43 male and 57 female, selected randomly. The descriptive method was used to achieve the goal of the study. The study tool was the critical thinking test prepared by (Mohammed Anwar Ibrahim, 2001) and adapted to the Algerian environment by (Ziouche Ahmed, 2013). The study concluded with the following main findings: - The critical thinking skills of second-year high school students in the literature and philosophy department in the city of Algiers were not at the acceptable and agreed upon educational level, which is 60% for high school students. They were weak in skills (interpretation, accuracy in examining facts, understanding relevant facts, deviation in opinion), average in (the correct relationship framework) and weak in overall critical thinking. - There was no statistically significant difference between the average of males and females in overall critical thinking skills and in each critical thinking skill.en_US
