This article presents the results of a study that developed a referenced diagnostic test to assess mathematical proficiency among second-year intermediate students. The test consisted of 39 multiple choice questions, with 263 students participating in the sample. The results showed good validity and reliability, as indicated by stability coefficients ranging from 0.87 to 0.95 and cut-off scores from 43% to 55% using the Angoff method. Factor analysis confirmed that 31 items measured a single general factor. The study aims to provide a useful tool for evaluating mathematical competencies in the field of psychometrics.en_US
