In this study, two Schiff bases were prepared by reacting salicylic aldehyde with two aniline derivatives. The structures of these compounds were confirmed through different spectroscopic methods such as UV-Visible and Infrared FT-IR spectrometry. The antioxidant activity of prepared compounds was evaluated in vitro with both DPPH radical scavenging activity and inhibition of Hydroxide peroxide. These compounds showed best antioxidant activity with respect to use of Hydrogen peroxide scavenging method, compared to the inhibition of DPPH. In addition, the first Schiff base ligand L1 gave excellent chelation and extraction efficiency for lead (II), therefore, considered as a promising antioxidant agents and a good chelator of Pb2+ to purify polluted water in this metal.en_US
