Abstract: Cancer pain, by its frequency and severity, represents a real problem for cancer patients. Methods: With the aimto describe the quality of the management of patients' cancer pain and analyze the epidemiological profile , the clinical and therapeutic aspects of cancer pain, we report the results of a prospective study carried out during the period from 01/01 /2023 until 03/31/2023, concerning the management of cancer pain in the oncology department at the Mohamed BOUDIAF Hospital in Ouargla Results: A total of 50 patients were included, whose average age was 53.2 years with a sex ratio of 1M\2F. We note that 82% of patients complained of pain, 24% of whom scored 10/10 on the most intense VAS scale. The pain was localized in 48% of cases and lasted more than 6 months in 62%. 54% of patients with pain were on a level I analgesic, followed by level II and level III at the same rate at 23%. During attacks, more than half of the patients had an analgesic prescription at a rate of 56%, with the use of level I at a rate of 50%, followed by Level III at a rate of 30%. We note that the positive effect, of level I reached at 76%; level II at 66%; level III at 57%. The DN4 questionnaire comes back positive in 42% of cases, while only 02% of patients are on antiepileptics or antidepressants. In addition, although only 20% of patients have consulted a psychiatrist, the majority at 80% feel an improvement. Furthermore, the use of non-drug analgesic treatments was zero. Conclusion: The results confirm that a considerable number of patients suffer from cancer pain, unfortunately, many of them do not receive satisfactory treatment. However. There are recognized methods for effective pain treatment. It is crucial that a comprehensive educational program be developed to teach caregivers, doctors and other healthcare professionals the need for cancer pain management.
