Abstract: | This study aims to understand the relationship between infant mortality(0-365 days) and a set of explanatory variables for this phenomenon, and it focused on highlighting the demographic determinants affecting infant mortality rates at the level of the southern territory in Algeria, through a descriptive and analytical study of the relationship between Infant mortality and the most important variables represented in the nature, gender and rank of the newborn, in addition to the woman’s age and the interval between birth, based on the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS6) database completed during the year 2018- 2019 and by applying the binary logistic regression method to determine the impact of determinants. The study demonstrated the possibility of including the rank of the newborn and the age of the mother as a determinant that explains the phenomenon of infant mortality, as there is a direct relationship between infant mortality and the rank of the newborn and an inverse relationship between the infant mortality rate and the age of the woman at birth, and the risk index was determined by a decrease in the age of the woman at birth and elevation of the newborn's rank |
