The purpose of this article is to examine how economic intelligence (EI) is practiced within one of the national companies. If the Algerian scientific literature has given great interest to EI, it remains that the theoretical aspect dominates and prevails over the empirical studies. To contribute to the understanding of the practice of EI within local companies, a case study was carried out with the port company of Bejaia EPB. The study consisted of the analysis of qualitative data from eleven interviews conducted with the managers. The results of this analysis show the presence of some aspects of EI (collection, processing, and dissemination of information) having much more of a "spontaneous" character. However, the organisational aspects (coordination of activities and actors, staff qualification, etc.) and the mastery of the learning process as a whole are not practiced in this companyen_US
