Algeria, like other Arab countries, has undergone major transformations in the population age structure. This is due to a decline in fertility rates, mortality rates, and an increase in life expectancy, especially among people aged 60 and over, which has increased from 14 years in 1970 to 22 years in 2019, according to the National Statistics Office (ONS). Due to the lack or absence of studies on the elderly in the Southern Algeria, we tried, through this research paper, to identify the most important socio-demographic factors affecting the living standards of this group by answering the following question: What are the most important socio-demographic factors affecting the living standards of the elderly in the Southern Algeria? Based on data from the Multi-Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS6) (2019), we tested the significance of the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable using appropriate statistical tests and methods. The study found that the gender variable did not affect the living standard, while the latter was affected by the following variables: age, marital status, Individual situation, place of residence, and chronic illnessen_US
