Abstract: The In Salah Carbon Capture and Storage project in central Algeria is a world pioneering onshore carbon dioxide capture and storage project which has built up a wealth of experience highly relevant to carbon dioxide storage projects worldwide. This research focuses on the capture, transportation, and secure underground storage of carbon dioxide emissions. Through analyzing the project's design, risk assessment, monitoring techniques, and practical outcomes (including surface deformation and potential leakage), this study highlights the importance of further research to ensure the safe and effective implementation of carbon dioxide storage technology. The In Salah project provides an important case study for knowledge transfer to other major carbon dioxide storage projects in the planning and execution phases
