Abstract: This study is part of the asset valuation palm growing in arid regions, it is based on identification, collection and classification of the dates are in the region of Ouargla, we were 55 cultivars have some significant economic value , while others are rare and court of missing and others have completely disappeared. The difference between these cultivars is mainly due to morphological dates more than grains of these cultivars include; Deglet-Nour, Ghars Degla-Beida Litim, Mizit, Hamraya, Tamesrit, Timjouhart, Tafezouine, Bajmil, Harchaya, ... etc.. The palm trees from seeds of other varieties differ mostly on the side of the general characteristics, so it is important to diagnose since they contribute to the diversity of the palm of one per second and reproductive rejection that has seen a great variation in development because of the progress that knows the market dates. And for the preservation of these varieties are proposed: * The collection of rare varieties and distribute them to farmers* Creating a botanical garden comprising cultivars of dates.
