Guerrara (Dayet El Amied).
The study of various types of soil and ancient sediments provides information on paleoenviromental changes. In this work, our approach of climate change is based on the micromorphologic and mineralogical study of the pedo-sedimentary formations of the region of Guerrara (Dayet El Amied). Our investigation has highlighted an alternation of loam and sandy layers, probably corresponding to a succession of hydrous and wind sediments. The soil of Dayet El Amied preserve characteristic pedological features (crystalline features, textural and ferruginous), indicating unstable climatic conditions in the past. The sandy layers present the more elevated contents of Palygorskite, thus signifying their accumulation under a drier and arid climate. Consequently, the loam layers which are richer in Halloysite, would be formed during the more humid periods. The Quartz, which presents the main part of sandy layers, evolves in an inversed way, with the rest of minerals, composed of Calcite and Phyllosilicate, what thus indicates two ways of contribution: wind and hydric. The characterization of sedimentary sources have showed us that the sandy layers are transported essentially by wind way. While the loam layers and limestone is rather displaced by hydric way. |
