dc.description.abstract | This study aimed at defining sources, symptoms of stress and coping strategies used by classroom teachers in Bahrain. A sample of 146 primary classroom teachers (25 males and 121 females) was chosen. In addition, a stress measurement questionnaire was built and used. Both validity and reliability of questionnaire were calculated. Results have shown that primary classroom teachers show various stress symptoms. Most of which were turnover, despair and boredom. In addition, results show that majority of primary classroom teachers express various stress sources. The most expressed were pupils' parents who do not cooperate with school. Furthermore, results indicated that classroom teachers use various coping strategies to curb stress. The most widely used ones were cognitive strategies. As to the demographic variables, it has been found that- in the stress symptoms area- differences between sex variable groups (males/ females) and pupils sex groups (teachers teaching boys/ teachers teaching girls) only, was statistically significant. Also, in the area of stress sources, it was found that differences between pupils sex groups (teachers teaching boys/ teachers teaching girls) only, was significant. As to the area of coping strategies, it was found that differences between marital status groups (married/ single) and working experience groups (less than 5 years, between 5 and 10, between 11 and 15, above 15 years) only, was statistically significant. Other differences ,however, were not significant | en_US |
