Abstract

with the transformation of the population pyramid of Algeria which is marked by a widening of its base and increasing the proportion of elderly, Algeria initiates the évolution towards the aging phase of the evolution populationthisdemographic trend will have multiple repercussions on public policy over thenext decades ,so we would henceforth integrate the care of the elderly as a priority of public policy and social institutions. The object of this contribution bring out the différent aspects of this demographic évolution as regarding its causes and its conséquences through the analysis of the following issues: - The emergence of the elderly category whose rate represents 7,7% in 2010 of population in demographic évolution of Algeria. - Decline in fertility and infant mortality and improving the management of the health of the population as a whole has changed the configuration of older pyramid henceforth by enlargement of its base and significance from the elderly. - This demographic evolution has not reached the level of against aging of the population of developed countries in which the elderly are subject to a medical and social supported and a policy of prevention which prodigy the volume of public policy efforts in Algeria towards this category of the population in the next decades.
