Résumé: The Tunisian olive grove is very rich in varieties and local ecotypes but it is dominated by two oil varieties, Chétoui in the North and Chemlali Sfax in the center and in the South. Chemlali Sfax is highly productive and well adapted to the arid conditions. However, its oil contains high level of palmitic acid and relatively low level of oleic acid.
Our work is to characterize new genetic resources of the olive tree in the biotope of Sfax on morphological and agronomic plans. 12 hybrids issued from the crossing between Chemlali Sfax and other Tunisian and foreign varieties where every hybrid is represented by a single tree are planted in the Olive Tree Institute headquarter in Sfax since 1997. The quantitative characters show an important variability. The correlative analysis shows a dependence of the production and the number of fruits by shoot with the characters of the shoot and the fruit. The analysis of hierarchical classification showed the hybrid subdivision into three homogeneous groups. The projection of hybrids on the two principal components showed that certain hybrids are different according to the characters of the fruit, the stone and the shoot. This crossing generated a wide variability and the obtained results will establish a useful database in the case of a procedure of registration of one of these plant varieties

Résumé: The wheat, formerly cultivated in the oases of Sahara becomes more and more rare. According to people resources, some cultivars are extinct. This work joins within the context of the evaluation of cereal genetics resources in Saharan regions of Algeria. It is about the characterization of five cultivars of durum wheat (Triticum durum Desf.). The experimental study was conducted at research station of Sidi Mehdi, Touggourt. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with four replications. Thirteen biometric characters and heading stage date are tested. Principal Component Analysis illustrates distinct variation between cultivars from the same region. Some of them present good characters such as: high yield and early heading stage. This demonstrates the crucial interest of preserving these cultivars to exploit their genetic potential in a breeding program

Résumé: The present work aims the morphological characterization of five safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L) cultivars sampled from farmers of Touggourt region. The trial in randomized complete block design with four replications was conducted in Sidi Mahdi Experimental Station of National Institute of Agronomic Research of Algeria (INRAA) Touggourt. The study bases on quantitative evaluation of 25 agro-morphological traits. Statistical analysis of results by Principal Component Analysis (PCA) using the XLSTAT program has highlighted the interdependence of evaluated parameters and significant differences between cultivars. The study revealed 22 positive relations and two negative relations. Sixteen significant and positive correlations highlight the link of growth parameters between them and with the yields. The cultivar Merdjaja, the most productive, expressed the best values for the majority of the studied parameters

Résumé: In arid and semi-arid, the degradation and the decline in the soil fertility is a major concern for farmers. At Guidan Bakoye, in the Maradi region, to cope with this, the farmers have adopted the assisted natural regeneration to rebuild a degraded environment due to uncontrolled use. Thus, a variety of woody species have been bred and maintained in this region in particular, Guiera senegalensis. The present study focuses on the influence of the tufts of this plant on the production of millet in Guidan Bakoye locality. To do this, tests were carried out according to a device in a block randomized complete on 3 plots with tufts of Guiera senegalensis and a control plot (no tufts). The results obtained revealed a better root development of the millet associated with the Guiera senegalensis which seems to explore the rhizosphere of the latter unlike the mil playing out of this shrub whose roots are thin and vertical. The study also shows an increase in yields of grain and straw of millet under the influence of Guiera senegalensis respectively in the order of 50 to 100% and from 10 % to 25%. It appears clearly that the growth and development of millet in the Guidan Bakoye soil are improved by the presence of tufts of Guiera senegalensis
