    <title>Loss and Gain in Translation: A Comparative Study between Three Translations of Surat “An-Naas”</title>
    <link>https://dspace.univ-ouargla.dz/jspui/handle/123456789/16930</link>
    <description>Titre: Loss and Gain in Translation: A Comparative Study between Three Translations of Surat “An-Naas”
Auteur(s): Smail Hadj Mohammed
Résumé: The present study seeks to highlight the principle of loss and gain with reference&#xD;
to the translationof the Holy Quran through the analysis of three translations of Surat&#xD;
“An-Naas”. The translation of the Holy Quran from Arberry (1964), Yusuf Ali (1975),&#xD;
and Mahmoud Ghali (2002) were selected. The study is based upon a descriptive&#xD;
qualitative method where the writer collects the data, matches, examines and then&#xD;
analyses the results through using comparative method which compares (ST) to (TT).&#xD;
The linguistic and extra linguistic factors behind the phenomenon of loss and gain have&#xD;
been examined along with suggesting some solutions on how to reduce the first and&#xD;
enhance the second. Subsequently, a comparative study between the three versions of&#xD;
Surat “An-Naas” is adopted. The results of the study reveal that the methods followed&#xD;
by the translators vary, and the analysis shows that the loss is highly expected in the&#xD;
translation of the holy Quran and the gain is a mere attempt to approximate meaning.

    <title>Translating the Culturally Implicit: Limitations to Creativity</title>
    <link>https://dspace.univ-ouargla.dz/jspui/handle/123456789/16928</link>
    <description>Titre: Translating the Culturally Implicit: Limitations to Creativity
Auteur(s): Zoulikha Yekhelef
Résumé: This paper is about the impact of the cultural differences on translation task. To take the&#xD;
last level, give rise to lexical gaps evinced in incongruous ideological, social and ecological&#xD;
terms which relate to highly sensitive issues such as religion and politics or those pertaining&#xD;
to institutions and nomenclature. To bring about some gain, the translated text (from Arabic&#xD;
into English / English into Arabic) is a laborious task on the part of the competent translator&#xD;
who has to resort to certain strategies, such as those of compensation, domestication, and&#xD;
explication. On the textual level, for instance, the translator may utilize different types of&#xD;
references; and in the stylistic / rhetoric level he / she may adopt the strategy of compensation&#xD;
whereby he could plant in the target text metaphor equivalent to non-metaphor in the source&#xD;
text to atone for an inevitable loss of a preceding rhetorical feature in the source text&#xD;
.Furthermore, equilibrium should be maintained with regard to los and gain in literary&#xD;
translation.&#xD;
The translation techniques /procedures applied in this paper are used in order to mention&#xD;
the importance of translator’s knowledge /competence in choosing the target strategies as&#xD;
solutions to maintain and perform SL text analysis / TL text reproduction correctly. Besides&#xD;
that, this paper takes into account some important points such as the characteristics of literary&#xD;
texts, literary translation difficulties, the relationship between translation and culture, and&#xD;
ambiguity /creativity in translation.

    <description>Titre: A Corpus-Based Approach to Civil Engineering Nominal Compounding
Auteur(s): Abdelkrim Makhloufi; Bachir Bouhania
Résumé: This paper investigates the various types of compounds used in three branches of civil&#xD;
engineering. The aim is to provide field related learners with a clear insight into this discourse&#xD;
element, and hence, enable them to deal with authentic material. Thus, this research is a&#xD;
cornerstone of a long term objective which is "a Civil Engineering Glossary of Terms". As it&#xD;
was opted for a corpus base approach, Wordsmith, a software program, was used to elaborate&#xD;
a vocabulary list on the basis of frequency of occurrence. Conclusively, it has been found that&#xD;
the structure of noun + noun as well as adjective + noun seem to be overwhelmingly&#xD;
predominant.
