    <description>Titre: Promoting Learners’ Appropriate Conjunctions Use in Argumentative Essay Writing through a Text-Based Approach
Auteur(s): Ahmed Chaouki Hoadjli; Mebarka Achi
Résumé: This study hypothesised that adopting a Text-Based Approach (TBA), that is using a variety of text samples to highlight the argumentative essay conventions, would enable learner-writers to write more-efficient argumentative essays, and hence, achieve proficiency in argumentative writing. More particularly, this research suggested that the more EFL learners are aware of the appropriate use of linking words and phrases relevant to the argumentative essays, the coherent and cohesive their writing would be. Therefore, methodologically, the researchers opted for a mixed-methods approach. Relevantly, a quasi-experiment and case study strategies were chosen. To collect data, a test and an interview were held with the concerned participants. The targeted population was EFL learners at the Teachers‟ Training School of Constantine (ENSC). For the sample, a group of second year students was selected. In doing so, the researchers used the purposive sampling technique. The results indicated that integrating reading in the writing course through the adoption of TBA is efficient since it could strengthen theargumentative essay conventions. Additionally, interview results held with some writing teachers at the ENSC indicated that they are satisfied with the proposed approach to teach writing and, therefore, advocated its adoption in the instruction of writing for EFL learners.

Résumé: In this article, we present the first part of our work. It is a question of referring to Quebec's experience in preventing school dropout.&#xD;
The main objective of the research is to verify the primary and secondary school failure rates in Algerian schools.&#xD;
Two steps were necessary, namely:&#xD;
1. the development of a screening tool for students at risk of school failure and 2. The screening test in primary and secondary schools includes 12 teachers and some 560 pupils.&#xD;
Research results show that students' difficulties are of the following order of importance: 46% with learning difficulties, 30% with internalized behavioral difficulties and 24% with externalized behavioral difficulties.&#xD;
An analysis of the results of the comparison between boys and girls shows that, in general, girls are identified as good pupils more frequently than boys. Indeed, among the latter, the risk rate is higher than among girls (55%) so more than one among two boys, is at risk of dropping out of school whereas for girls, it is 36%, that means one girl among 3girls.

Auteur(s): Mbame Jean-Pierre, *; Djofang Hugues; Bonoy Lamou
Résumé: This study determined the prevalence of burnout and identified the socio-demographic and professional factors that influence burnout among secondary school teachers. A study by self-administered questionnaire made it possible to collect the data. SPSS version 20.0 software allowed us to analyze the data. 244 teachers aged 20 to 60 were included. The prevalence of burnout was 57.79%. Note that 19% of the variance in emotional exhaustion is explained by length of service in the establishment, age, marital status and sex [R2 = 0.19, F (4, 239) = 4.96, p &lt;0.05]. Also, 21% of the variance in depersonalization, is explained by Seniority in the establishment, the number of children in care, sex and marital status, [R2 = 0.21, F(4, 239) = 16, 94, p &lt;0.05]. Finally, 15% of the variance in loss of personal accomplishment is explained by marital status, seniority in the establishment and age [R2 = 0.15, F (4, 239) = 15.03, p &lt;0.05]. This study shows that burnout among secondary school teachers is a reality. Age, marital status, number of children in care, seniority in the establishment and gender have a significant influence on burnout.
