Résumé: The establishment and interpretation of diameter and height structures is essential for forest management
decision-making. This study aims to describe the diameter structure and spatial distribution of Pinus halpensis
populations in the Beni Oudjana (Khenchela) forest. Knowledge of these parameters is an essential step in their
sustainable management. The diameter at 1.30 m from the ground, the total height of P. halpensis individuals
were measured on 6 plots according to an altitudinal gradient. The diameter and height structures were
established according to the diameter or height classes and adjusted to the theoretical Weibull distribution. The
density of the species increases according to this gradient from 4060 feet/hectare in plot P3 (at an altitude of
1472m) to 340 feet/hectare in plot P2 (1106m altitude). The stand of plot 4 is characterized by the lowest
average values for diameter (5.784±7.03cm) height (3.19±2.56m), basal area (0.00±0.02m2/ha), total volume
(0.03±0.10m3/ha) and relative density of 15%. Analysis of diameter and height structures shows an increase in
the frequency of young individuals. These results contribute to the improvement of knowledge on current status
indicators of natural P. halpensis stands that can be used as a basis for the management of the Beni Oudjana
forest

Titre: SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT IN ARID ZONES: TO WHICH SPACES? AND WHICH SOCIETY? (CASE OF THE PROVINCE OF OUARGLA – ALGERIA)
Auteur(s): Saida CHAOUCH
Résumé: Having lived for centuries as part of a harmonious development adjusting the growth of spaces and
agricultural production to the rate of growth of the population, the agriculture in Ouargla knows, strong changes
following the policies creating new agrarian spaces and promoting a new category of farmers. Thus, in Ouargla there
are two types of agriculture, one belonging to the oases, located in the old spaces and the other, new, dominated by neofarmers
and placed in new areas. In order to know what types of agricultural areas and what category of farmers the
sustainability of agriculture is based on, we examined four indicators namely, production, human component, sectors
and natural potentialities. Encouraging the reconstitution of economically viable farms and the encouragement of oases
are strongly recommended. Winning new spaces remains feasible in determining production priorities and favoring
promising neo-farmers.

Résumé: The raw milk is a highly nutritious product. The preparation of Raib by spontaneous fermentation of
milk requires strict control to minimize health risks. The aim of this study is to assess the effect of spontaneous
fermentation of camel milk on the physicochemical and biochemical quality of Raib. The analysis of camel milk
samples collected in the region of Ghardaïa, south of Algeria, are analyzed during fermentation time (T0 hour
until 120 hours). The monitoring during the time has shown that the pH value decreases from 6.53 to 3.85 at
T120H. Conversely, the value of Dornic acidity increased from 18 °D to 105 °D. As for the total dry matter and
the ashes, these experienced a significant reduction in the rates respectively from 123.2 ± 8.1 and 8.38 ± 0.5 g/l
to the rates of 113.4 ± 7.3 and 7.87 ± 0.6 g/l at T120H. Biochemical analyzes have revealed that fermentation
leads to a significant reduction in fat which is from 45.2 g/l to 37.5 g/l at T120H. However, the lactose, total
protein and casein content have decreased significantly. The rates increased respectively from 42.2 ± 2.03, 34.1
± 1.1 and 28.05 ± 0.65 g/l to 23.4 ± 1.13, 29.0 ± 1.4 and 23.48 ± 1.45 g/l before and after fermentation. The
lactic acid bacteria have a considerable initial load (3.83 Log10 ufc/ml) and increase to a high value after T120H
(8.06 Log10 ufc/ml). These results indicate that the fermentation process induced by the development of the
lactic acid bacteria of camel milk promotes the degradation of certain biochemical parameters. These results
seem to be an asset in promoting fermentation products.

Résumé: The objective of this study is the rational management of forest ecosystems for the sustainable
conservation of plant biodiversity. Two types of analysis are carried out: the structural analysis and the analysis
of the main species. In total, 3675 individuals are distributed in 5 families, separated between 7 species were
identified. The dominant woody and grassy plant species are Pinus halepensis and Juniperusoxycedrus. Pinaceae
and Cupressaceae are the most represented families. Mean values of species richness, Shannon diversity index
are 3±1,2 et 0,71±0,30 species / plot respectively. The average density of woody trees in the Sidi R’Ghies forest
is 735 ± 368 plants / ha with an average basal area of 23,01 ± 5,04m² / ha. The structure of the heights shows that
the trees in the height classes between 2 and 4m have a very high density, proof of a natural regeneration. The
total structure indicates that smaller trees are more abundant than larger ones (17,5 <d≤27,5cm). Indeed, this
work is a database for the forest but it is only one of the facets to be considered in order to protect and restore it.
