Titre: Translation of doublespeak from relevance theory perspective: More flexible possibilities
Auteur(s): Meriam BENLAKDAR
Résumé: The present study is related to the field of translation and aims to analyse the translation of English
doublespeak into Arabic from relevance theory perspective. This theory is based on the cognitive and
communicative principles of relevance, optimal relevance, communication clues and intentionality.
Moreover, Gutt introduced the concepts of direct and indirect translation based on the distinction between
descriptive and interpretative use of language. The translator may choose the most appropriate translation
strategies accordingly. In addition, the nature of these strategies and their efficiency within language
manipulation implied by doublespeak may not be easily defined. To conduct our study, we have chosen
samples from the internet portal “Qantara” which offers articles in English and their translation in Arabic
especially in political and religious fields where doublespeak is widely common. We concluded that
relevance theory provides the translator with flexible possibilities through allowing multiple
interpretations and resolving the problem of untranslatability by offering a varied range of strategies such
as literal translation, preservation, amplification, explication, equivalence and so on. However, the
assessment of relevance shall be carried out in a detached and objective way.

Résumé: With the constant advances in technology, some educational materials are threatened with
extinction. If it seems that the textbook is directly concerned, the best-established prognoses turn out to
be erroneous, however, since the textbook does not disappear but is transformed in concrete terms. It
cannot be otherwise in view of the undisputed value of this privileged didactic instrument. A central
question then arises: is the textbook this other symbol or emblem of national sovereignty? A possible and
not inescapable answer is conceived in the perspective of the strategic depth called for by national
cohesion. Algerian National Education thus politicizes the intermittent debate linked to the principle of
innovation. It is his thoughtful way of inviting “philosophers” to subtly distinguish educational
innovation from technological innovation. The result is a healthy attitude of questioning the ipseity that
is too often concealed in favor of otherness, so that a real understanding of the phenomenon manifests
itself objectively in the minds of the educational partners: teachers and learners. It is therefore
unquestionably a question of methodology and epistemology with the concern for greater efficiency and
future performance. An enlightened witness, the national school textbook is part of a people’s work of
memory.

Titre: Negotiating the Situational Identity of Algerian Migrants over-skilled in Québec
Auteur(s): Ali Belaidi
Résumé: Through qualitative demarch, this research is trying to point out how the difficulties to integrate into market
labor of the host-society and affect the strategies of new comers and exploring each situation to realize their goals.
They find themselves obliged to negotiate constantly their situations and their strategies. Because it is never an
individual matter, the identity is deeply affected, and it is intricately shaped by every experience life. In exploring
the micro-social processes interaction through which migrant identity is reinvented, the study leads to setting up of a
“mapping” of migrants faced every situation and how the migrant negotiate its references. Furthermore, it displays
the result of negotiating as a social adjustment in everyday life and the struggles to succeed gradually the whole
process of integration. The people interviewed invent for themselves new norms of negotiating, within the different
social situations, which include three references (homeland, host society and community of the same origin). A new
form of identifications emerges from their social negotiating that obey not only to their references but also to the
conditions of their situations and the possibilities to improve or realize their aims. The analysis highlights the
‘adaptative action’ and the situation negotiating of identity

Titre: The Subversive Effects of Nationalism on the American Civilizational Structure throughout the History of the United States of America
Auteur(s): Zoubir Aissani
Résumé: Nationalism is one of the most influential political ideologies in human history. In fact, the sentiment has
drastically reshaped the international political map in the two centuries since its first formulation in the writings of
European philosophers in the 18th century, notably in regions accommodating ethnic or cultural minorities
imperfectly integrated into their respective national societies. Thus, the problems and frequent failures of national
integration are issues of central importance in the contemporary world, namely, the United States of America. The
present paper examines the question of whether nationalism is detrimental to the civilizational structure of the USA;
if so, then to what extent? The present paper will attempt to answer this question by conducting an objective
investigation of different historical events and evaluation of their respective ramifications on the American
community and politics
