Abstract:
The study of karstification requires a good knowledge of the geology and the factors influencing the
evolution of the phenomenon. This study conducted in the northern part of the Algerian Sahara aims at
the classification of karsts observed according to their genesis. The first step of this work is the
development of a structural model of the study area using gravimetric data processing techniques. The
next step is the study of the exokarst by census of the geomorphological forms linked to the
phenomenon locally named the Dayas; These buildings are the manifestation in subsurface of the
karstic network covered by the recent formations. The structural map developed has identified several
principal orientations of direction N120 ° -130 °, N150-160 °, N90 ° -100 °. The methods used to
achieve this objective are the gradient technique in which the maxima of the horizontal gradient Allow
the localization of the gravimetric lineaments and the deconvolution of Euler allowing the
determination of the depths of the gravimetric anomalies.
Reduced Scale Geophysical Recognition allowed for more detail on the nature of formations that clogs
the underground network, 2D electric tomography and Georadar are the most effective techniques for
achieving these objectives.
The morphometric study of the dolines made it possible to determine the origin of this one attributed
to the tectonic activity that affected the region.
The functional patterns of the Saharan karsts contributed to the understanding of the hydrogeological
transfer mechanism between the aquifers.
