Reverse Observation as a Lever for Hybrid Assessment in the Language Classroom: A Study of the Pedagogical Framework in the Master 1 Program, Department of French, University of El-Oued (Algeria)

Titre: Reverse Observation as a Lever for Hybrid Assessment in the Language Classroom: A Study of the Pedagogical Framework in the Master 1 Program, Department of French, University of El-Oued (Algeria)
Auteur(s): Mounir MILOUDI; Ahmed ANAD
Résumé: This contribution highlights the stakes of reverse observation as a lever for establishing hybrid assessment in Algerian university education, particularly within the context of the global health crisis. To address this, we propose implementing this remote assessment framework within the teaching and learning of the Observation of Pedagogical Practices (OPP) module in the Master 1 program at the Department of French of the University of El-Oued.
At this level of education, students primarily rely on direct observation to analyze and synthesize the teacher's pedagogical practices. The guided dimension of the teaching-learning situation thus becomes a central element of their training, in which they play an active, even driving, role in their own in-class evaluation.
We experimented with various strategies of this unique form of observation and assessment in language courses by reversing the traditional roles in the progression of activities. These experiments were conducted with 12 Master 1 groups from two distinct cohorts, accompanied by directive and semi-directive interviews carried out with a representative sample of students.
The results show that reverse observation and hybrid assessment have a positive impact on the planning of post-university learning. They facilitate the transfer and reuse of acquired knowledge, while contributing to the construction of didactic and pedagogical knowledge. These practices also promote the development of writing confidence, the implementation of telecollaboration, and allow students to better understand their own experiences.
In conclusion, this new approach deserves to be sustainably integrated into the pedagogical practices of the Algerian university.

Titre: Netflix and the Korean Wave (Hallyu): Productive and Aesthetic Metamorphoses in South Korean Drama—Squid Game as a Paradigm
Auteur(s): SADOUN Nesrine
Résumé: In recent years, the South Korean film and drama industry has achieved global acclaim, as evidenced by Parasite (2019), the series Squid Game (2021), and the film Decision to Leave (2022), all occurring amidst the ascent of the Netflix platform, which plays a pivotal role in reshaping this industry. This article reviews the historical and political context that contributed to the formation of Korean cinema and drama, ranging from cultural protectionist policies—such as the screen quota system—to the opening up to global markets in the era of the Netflix platform. The latter has introduced new funding models and afforded unprecedented opportunities to access a global audience. This transformation is not limited to economic aspects but encompasses the narrative and aesthetic characteristics of dramatic content.
On the applied side, this article utilizes the series Squid Game as an analytical model to comprehend how Korean cultural identity intersects with the exigencies of the Netflix platform, and how this intersection has produced hybrid narrative and aesthetic forms that merge the local with the global, achieving unprecedented commercial and critical success.

Titre: تأثير وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي على الهوية الثقافية للشباب The Impact of Social Media on the Cultural Identity of Youth
Auteur(s): صبيرة زيتوني
Résumé: This study aims to identify the factors influencing this impact, such as the quality of content, time spent using social media, and engagement in virtual communities, and to examine how social media affects different groups of young people differently. Cultural identity is a vital part of shaping personality and society; therefore, studying the impact of social media on this identity helps in understanding the potential changes occurring within the community.
The study employed a descriptive methodology, applied to a purposive sample of 131 young individuals. The study's findings emphasize that the impact of social media on the cultural identity of youth is a complex and multidimensional process, requiring further research and reflection on how to achieve a balance between openness to other cultures and the preservation of the original cultural identity.
The study concluded by offering recommendations to various concerned groups to support the cultural identity of youth in the face of the diverse impacts of social media. These recommendations include raising awareness among young people about the importance of preserving their cultural identity and encouraging content that promotes local cultural values, while maintaining a balance that strengthens the identity and culture of youth amidst digital transformations.
