Investigating the Use of Criss-Cross Transposition in Arabic Translation The Madman Case Study

Abstract

During the process of translation, the resorts to some procedures in order to produce a text that is familiar to the target audience. One of these procedures is the special procedure of criss-cross transposition. The current study entitled “Investigating the Use of Criss-cross Transposition in Arabic Translation" examines the application of this procedure while shifting from English into Arabic. To find answers to our questions, we are following descriptive qualitative research. The corpus is Gibran's book of The Madman. Therefore, in the first chapter, we provide a literature review of some issues related to some translation procedures. The second chapter broaches the use of criss-cross transposition in translation. The third chapter is devoted to the examination of the use of criss-cross transposition in Gibran's The Madman.Finally, conclusion is drawn based on the data analyzed. Pendant le processus de traduction, le traducteur a recours à certaines procédures afin de produire un texte qui est familier à l'auditoire cible. Une de ces procédures est la procédure spéciale de chassé-croisé. La présente étude intitulée «enquête sur l'utilisation de criss-cross transposition dans la traduction arabe" examine l'application de cette procédure tout en déplaçant de l'anglais vers l'arabe. Pour trouver des réponses à nos questions, nous suivons la recherche qualitative descriptive. Le corpus est le livre de Gibran du Le Fou. Par conséquent, dans le premier chapitre, nous proposons une revue de la littérature de certaines questions liées à certaines procédures de traduction. Le deuxième chapitre aborde l'utilisation de chassé-croisé dans la traduction. Le troisième chapitre est consacré à l'examen de l'utilisation de criss-cross transposition dans deLe Fou. Enfin, la conclusion est tirée sur la base des données analysées.
