Abstract

The Islamic Waqf Play a distinct role in achieving sustainable development in the history of the Muslims, where the study of the history of Islamic civilization points; that the endowment had acted as the development of Islamic societies economically, socially, culturally and urban, it has extended the effects of the moratorium to include most aspects of life, including the protection of the environment to doing that vibrant communities and contributed to the prosperity of their services even in colonial times. Through the study of the history of the Algerian endowments before the colonial era, he finds that it played an important role in the life of Algerian society, like availability of job opportunities even outside the religious positions, as they were also interested in any way poor people within the state, and upgrade education and the provision of public service, and repair roads.., but the Algerian endowments began to know a big drop during the colonial era, after he tried to obliterate any role in the community, but after Algerian independence endowments in the upgrade and retrieve the status of endowments for sustainable development.
