Abstract

This historical article aims to clarify the political relations between the regency of Algiers during Ottoman Empire and Morocco (al-Maghrib al-Aqṣá) in the era of Moulay Ismail (1672-1727).The relations between the two countries had gone through two stages which were the military confrontation stage when Moulay Ismail clashed with Algeria in several battles because of the border conflict. This resulted in many battles such as al-Mecharii battle in1692 ,Djidioua battle in1700 and Alkwyah battle in1700.Cautious peace was the second stage where a state of war and tension remained between the two countries.
