Abstract

The Mediterranean area has been affected by the ending cold war results, especially concerning security, in which new political, military, economic, social, cultural and environmental threatens has appeared, different in its nature and sources than it was during cold war. This dictated to the Mediterranean countries to find new a mechanism to face these threatens that cannot be faced in the framework of traditional security concepts. These new mechanisms were represented in the collaboration and dialog initiatives that were announced as a platform for visions exchange and in the military collaboration between the Mediterranean countries. Algeria as a Mediterranean country is also a part of these interactions, in which it has been obliged to improve security approaches in the area.
