Abstract: Thepresent study highlights a very important issue in the process of teaching and learning, that is negative attitudes towards academic subjects, which affect negatively not only scholastic achievement, but, as well the subject itself such as mathematics. The primary goal that the current study seeks to achieve, then, is to determine the efficacy of a counseling program based on group counseling strategies for negative attitudes modification towards mathematics among a sample of technology science and arts students at Ouargla Algeria. For this the following hypotheses are tested: - There are significant differences between the mean scores of the control group and the experimental group in the pretest concerning attitudes scale towards mathematics of the total score, in favor of the experimental group. -No statistical significant differences between the mean scores of the attitudes scale towards mathematics and the total score of members of the experimental group according to sex -There are no significant differences between the mean scores of the attitudes scale towards mathematics and total score of members of the experimental group, according to the academic discipline (Arts and technology sciences The study used experimental method for its appropriateness to the subject. since the study contains two variables, independent variable, that is the attitudes scale towards mathematics, and dependent variable, which is the counseling program. The two-group system design is applied: control group, and experimental group. The sample, then, consists of 86 students, divided into 2 groups randomly selected; they are unequal in intelligence ,in academic achievement, in mathematics, age, and sex, school discipline, and general individual competence. Where each group included 43 pupils, control group (16 males and 27 females), while the experimental group consists of (14 males and 29 females), and ranged in age between 16-18), The study is held at khalil Ahmed secondary school during the year 2015/2016; and lasted about 7 months; the number of counseling sessions is around 20 sessions
