Abstract

I tried in my research to show the power that the place occupied in the poems of “Omar Hiba”, so I traced the term the place where was broad by scholars while studying it, and difference and diversity may be natural as a result of the opening up of critical studies and its benefit from the Human Sciences especially philosophy, psychology and sociology, thus some terms emerged such as: the space, the air, the leisure, the vacuum, the milieu... etc. There was a slight difference among scholars in determining the differences between terms, but they state that the place is derived from the existence and the human being, and by this it goes beyond its traditional meaning which was confined to a mere geographic location. As far as Omar Hiba’s Collection "Kalb wa Hajar" is our concern, I did my best to trace the power of the place in his Innovative style, so our choice wasn’t at random, but for a fundamental reason that the strong presence of the element of the place; there is a deep tone in his Collection that arises the reader’s curiosity wonder, and motivates him to go deep in its details. So to Omar Hiba, the place is an essential element in setting the poem, that’s why it is linked to his fate and existence, he has no existence outside of the place, and it has no place outside of his presence; that is reflected clearly in the strong presence of the power of the place is imbued with symbolism of "We”, through it the memory of the place retrieve and by reproducing it through poetic language. With such imagination, the text becomes a space where the poet’s soul exercises its existence.
