Abstract: The aim of the study is to uncover the role of environmental education in shaping environmental awareness ,while highlighting the importance and role of environmental education in educational curricula , and to know the extent to which students apply their environmental knowladge on the ground . The study was conducted on a sample of 500 students (boys and girls)from the scientific and literary streams of 2 and 3 grades of the four secondary existing in Maghnia city. After using the statistical methods we arrived at the following results : -environmental awareness among students in science and literature is average. -the students theoretical orientation towards the environment is better than the effective orientation both for students and literary students.
