Abstract: Drought can be defined as a slow process with a long absence of precipitation. This phenomenon touches Algeria from four decades. several drought indices were developed among them the Standardized Precipitation Index “S.P.I” and Reconnaissance Drought Index “R.D.I” which are used worldwide and they proved their performance.
