Abstract: This study aims to display the citizen's contribution in managing local public affairs, according to the participatory democracy approach that allows through its important and new mechanisms to activate and ensure the participation of citizens in public, economic, social, cultural and environmental decision-making. Tracking, implementing and evaluating them, providing popular and societal oversight over public decision-makers, and an essential entry point for achieving governance in managing local public affairs. The descriptive and analytical approach has been relied upon to understand the concepts of participatory democracy and local governance, and to identify the most important mechanisms of participatory democracy, in order to achieve governance that contributes to consolidating the values of citizenship
