Abstract: This study aimed to determine the differences in academic motivation among a sample of (412) students from the University Larbi Ben Mhidi of Oum El Bouaghi, which were selected according to the random stratified sampling method and distributed by scientific and literary specialty. We used the academic motivation scale (EME-U28) as a data collection tool, after having translated it and adapted it to the Algerian community. To prove the study’s hypotheses and determine the differences in academic motivation, by gender and by specialty, results showed that statistically significant differences in academic motivation exist at the level (0, 01) of students from the University Larbi Ben Mhidi, according to the Self-Determination Theory, due to gender and specialty in favor of the literary students.
