Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the differences between female athletes Who persevered in sports practice, and those who stopped or gave up the sport practice, with regard to perceptions of competence, autonomy and social membership this on the one hand, and to study possible correlations between these various perceptions on the other hand. This study is based on the descriptive method. The data collection technique used is the measurement scales of perceptions of competence, autonomy and social belonging. 120 athletes took part in this study (87 athletes who have persevered in sport practice, and the 33 athletes who have abandoned the sports practice). The statistical analyses showed that the perceptions of competence, autonomy and social membership are higher among female athletes who have persevered in sport practice compared to those who have dropped out. The results showed also a strong correlation between these three perceptions.
