α-amylase. Balanites aegyptiaca is a desert tree commonly known as desert date, is a plant of the Zygophyllaceae family native to tropical Africa. Polysaccharides are macromolecules have many different roles and origins (fungal or animal or plant). In our study, we highlight the main biological activities of polysaccharides which are: anti- oxidant; anti-diabetic; anti-inflammatory; anti-complement; and anti-immunomodulatory activities. To explore the antioxidant activity of polysaccharides, we adopted four methods; the DPPH test, the iron chelation test, the ABTS test. As well as the FRAP test. To explore the antidiabetic activity of polysaccharides, we adopted two methods: inhibition of α-glucosidas and inhibition of α- amylase. The determination of the anti-inflammatory activity is based on the study of two methods: the inhibition of the denaturation of proteins either by the use of alvabumine or by the use of BSA. And the stabilization red blood cell's membrane. The anti-complement activity of the polysaccharides was confirmed by an immunological test (sheep erythrocytes and anti-erythrocyte antibodies). Confirmation of the anti-immunomodulatory capacity of PS is by a haemaglutination test caused by the formation of antibody-red blood cell complexes. |
