dc.description.abstractThe objective of this study is to assess nutritional value of Artemia collected from a drain located in the southern region of Ouargla. Physicochemical characteristics of water drain were studied in situ monthly from November 2016 to March 2017. Artemia samples intended for biochemical study were sorted according to their stage of development, size and weight measured, identified, then stored at - 20°C. Proteins and lipids were determined respectively according to the method of Bradford and Folch. Water temperature of drain fluctuates between 15°C and 25°C. Salinity varies between 65.22 and 71 g/L. pH varies between 3.78 and 8.43. Dissolved oxygen ranges between 3.49 and 4.77 mg/l. We have been able to identify the species inhabiting the Ouargla drain, it is the diploid Artemia parthenogenetica reported for the first time in Ouargla. The average sizes of males and females are respectively 8.20 ± 1.16 and 13.40 ± 2.15 mm. For Nauplius is 197.14 ± 23.22 μm. The mean protein level in male Artemia is 75.41 ± 28.59 mg / L. In females is 62.23 ± 4.66 mg/l, and in nauplius is 40.83 ± 18.77 mg / L. Definitely, the study of the biochemical composition of females, males and Artemia nauplius inhabiting Ouargla drain has made it possible to identify the nutritional importance; which indicates that this species is suitable to be exploited in aquacultureen_US
