Abstract: This study shows the role of demographic transitionin changing the population structure during the period 1960-2020 in Algeria, where this study relied on the descriptive approach using data from different population sources, such as population growth rates that directly control the demographic dynamics, by presenting the major age groups and its trends in their change, especially the working age group and the youth group. The results revealed that the Algerian population has already entered the demographic dividend period since 2005, which is considered a demographic gift that does not last long, so it should be optimally exploited by investing in the workforce, especially young people that must be taken care of and strengthened their capabilities and skills
