Abstract: | The study aimed to identify the relative contribution of parents' attitudes towards homework in predicting the intrinsic motivation of children to perform the homework. A descriptive correlational research method was used. Two questionnaires were developed to measure: students' intrinsic motivation to perform homework, and parents' attitudes towards homework. The questionnaires were administered to a sample of (213) male students enrolled in the fifth grade and their parents in Muscat Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. The results showed that the students had a high level of intrinsic motivation and that the parents had neutral attitudes towards homework In addition, the results showed that parents’ attitudes toward homework explain 23% of the variance in students’ intrinsic motivation towards performing the homework The study concluded that school administrations should pay attention to educating parents about the importance of homework and make them partners in the educational process because of their impact on students' motivation towards performing |
