The financial crises facing many countries of the East Asia and Latin America in last decade of the last century, and the repercussions of financial collapses of a number of U.S. companies during 2002 have led to increase interest in corporate governance as a mechanism of reducing the administrative and financial perversion, which is the main reason for the occurrence of such crises. As a result of the growing interest in corporate governance in many developed and emerging economies the present study aimed to shed light on the role of the corporate governance in realizing the sustainable development, by reviewing the concept of corporate governance, its objectives and significance, as well as to identify the principles that underpin, and then highlight its role in realizing the sustainable development. The study found that there is an effect of corporate governance on economic, legal and social aspects which aims to achieve the benefit of individuals, institutions and societies as a whole, including working on the safety of Economics and achieving a total development in both developed and emerging countries alikeen_US
