This study tackles one aspect of the epistemological and ontologicalorigins of the terms etymology and radixation, which are considered asdisciplines that are concerned with the search for the origins ofwords and vocabulary and the knowledge of their roots. For this aim,an attempt is made to distinguish between the two terms and to useboth their lexical and conventional meaning. Then, the study movestowards adopting the term radixation as an alternative to etymology,as it is a purely Arabic discipline, by relying on the articles of theresearcher AbdAlhakFadel and also what other scholars of the Arabiclanguage have vindicated through a set of examples and samples ofetymology and radixation.en_US
