dc.description.abstractThis study describes and analyses occupational stress to which the working women in libraries are exposed and their effects on performance in public library. It is a survey based on an inquiry conducted on working women at the public libraries in the state of Jijel. In this paper, we defined occupational stress, and then we studied the dimensions of its study and its effect on working women. The obtained results reveal that working women were exposed to pressures when doing their job. These pressures were qualified to be at an adequate level that helps the performance of tasks in the inquired libraries. In order cope with stress, the paper recommends to pay more attention to both psychological and behavioural dimensions among working women. The paper also points out the necessity to try to alleviate stress to avoid cumulating its effects on working women and to ensure the smooth progress of worken_US
