The aims of this work is the collection of statistic and scientific data about green spaces and the applications of phytoremédiation and biomonitoring of atmospheric pollution in Algeria, following the data provided by the Ministry of Environment (MATE), Environmental Directions (DEW) and National Center of Biological Resources Development (CNDRB). The results showed that the national ratio of the area of green spaces estimated at 0.7m2/hab. is very low and below than the international standards set at 10 m2/hab. As well as, 47.52% of green spaces are at average to degraded state. Regarding the typology, were have found 48% urban and suburban parks, road alignments 19%, 2% urban forests, etc. Into dominance of species we have found: Acacia 14%, Palm 11% Eucalyptus 10%, Laurel 9%, etc.. In general, the constitution of green spaces on plants remains dependent on the aesthetic, ornamental, and entertainment aspect, and does not meet the ecological characteristics of each region and environmental remediation needsen_US
