Abstract: This study aims to find out some general parameters for outsourcing activities in the light of subcontracting, and that by tackling the nature and specificity of subcontracting in this sector and the type of outsourced activities and standards of picking and choosing the appropriate subcontractor to implement works. This study included 87 ordering institutions of national and foreign nationalities working in Algeria's hydrocarbon sector. The results of this study concluded that the nature of subcontracting in the hydrocarbon sector is primarily subcontracting markets and there have been 24 outsourced activities in the frame of subcontracting in this sector with a clear dominance of the services sector. It was also found that the quality standard is one of the most important criteria in the selection of subcontractors.
