The objective of this study is the evaluation of anticoagulant and phagocytic activity of raw extracts obtained from aqueous and alcoholic extracts of Piper nigrum spices, Zingiber officinale and Curcuma longa. The quantitative analysis of the extracts revealed a wealth of these spices in polyphenols and flavonoids especially in turmeric which recorded 105.92mgEAG / ghg and 89.07 mg ER / ghg in polyphenols and flavonoids, respectively. The anticoagulant activity of the extracts was also evaluated in vitro tests using the prothrombin time (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT). The results indicate that these spices have a slight anticoagulant activity of the endogenous pathway and in less degree on the extrinsic pathway of coagulation. The study of the immunomodulatory effect of extracts shows that alcoholic extracts of turmeric and the binary and ternary blends exhibit appreciable phagocytic activity of 70.43% to 75.16%. The positive control shows a phagocytic activity of 74.63% |
