Abstract: this research paper aims to be a global introduction to discuss a pivotal issue under the current circumstances of the world as a whole, which is concerning the environmental status in the UNO’s agenda, accordingly, the question of environment considered the important subjects on the international arena, especially in the light of environmental degradation that the world is witnessing today like climate change, pollution and desertification...etc. Under this environmental degradation, the environmental issues occupied the first ranks on the agenda of international policy, and it has been concluded many bilateral, regional and even global agreements in order to put an end to the environmental degradation, in this context, the UNO interested on Environment issues, this is shown in the United Nations Environment Program which emerged from the Stockholm Conference in 1972 ,this program was developed to follow up the environmental issues and to find solutions to the environmental degradation, in this context, our subject considered like an attempt to discover the most important policies and strategies adopted by the UNO to preserving the global ecosystem and the most important challenges that facing it, in addition, essaying to identify the most important global environmental problems and the role of the United Nations in order to reducing them.
