dc.description.abstract | The present study attempts to investigate and explore the use of satire and irony to create a sense of humour in Hard Times, one of the most known novels of the social and realistic writer Charles Dickens. The novel portrays the reality of the Victorian society during the Industrial Revolution in the Victorian period. The aim of this study is to know the significance of the use of humor in Charles Dickens style. The study is divided into three chapters, the first chapter contains a theoretical overview of humour, and the use of irony and satire to achieve it. The second chapter provides general view of the Victorian novel language and style. The third chapter is an investigation of the motives behind the use of humour in Dickens’s Hard Times.La présente étude vise à étudier et explorer l'utilisation de l'humour (ironie et satire) dans les Dur Temps, l'un des romans les plus connus de l'écrivain réaliste et sociale Charles Dickens, qui été dévoué a critiquer l'injustice sociale, et de dépeindre la réalité de la société anglaise pendant la révolution industrielle dans la période victorienne. Le but de cette étude est de connaître l'utilisation de signification de l'humour dans le style de Charles Dickens. L'étude se divise en trois chapitres, le premier donne un aperçu théorique de l'ironie et la satire en explorant la théorie littéraire du marxisme suivie par une vision générale sur les romans victorienne. Le troisième chapitre est une enquête sur les motifs de l'utilisation de l'humour dans Dickens roman les Dur Temps. | en_US |
