Abstract : The excess of nitrogenous compound in the aquatics mediums is a primordial; it can cause eutrophication of the medium, pollution of surface and underground water by the oxidized form in the majority of the cases. Their eliminations require variable techniques according to their forms. The elimination of these compounds is assured by vegetation whatever the form in presence. The survey of ammonium elimination and nitrates by a plant aquatic Imperata cylindrica harvested of the region of Bechar (Southwest Algerian), has show that in a mixed environment containing the NH4 + at the concentrations (29mg/l, 58mg/l,87mg/l, 145mg/l) and the NO3 -(100mg/l, 200mg/l,300mg/l,500mg/l), the elimination rates are : (89.8%, 95.35%, 64.23%, 97.93%) for the NH4 + and (36.49%, 72.55%, 71.66%, 60.82%) for the nitrates; the separation of the two elements has lead the rates (90.42%, 93.68%, 95.71%, 94.07%) for the NH4 + at the concentrations respectively (4.5mg/l, 18, 90 and 180mg/l), and of (73.85%, 75.55%, 71.53%, 88.32%) for the nitrates with initials concentrations (100mg/l, 200, 300 and 500mg/l) . The saltiness has an effect on the elimination rates of the nitrates. The content in chlorophyll is influenced by the high contents of ammonium and by middle salinity; Sodium accumulation is important in the cloths of Imperata cylindrica.en_US
