dc.description.abstractAccess to knowledge economy has become imperative for all countries, including the importance of investment in technological infrastructure and human capital. Actually, universities are considered as being the centre of creation and sharing of knowledge, and the pillar of the innovation process. Therefore, the quality of higher education is considered as a major ranking element of universities around the world. This ranking is even used to distinguish countries in the process of integration of the knowledge economy. We will present in this working paper the imperatives of the quality of higher education, and the criteria for universities ranking and finally, the place of the Algerian University in this new area.en_US
